The new ‘Creating Caring Cultures' fellowships are aimed at nurses and midwives who are passionate about clinical improvement and clinical education and who are aspiring clinical leaders and scholars.
The Fellowship will enable each healthcare professional to undertake a project on secondment, in order to improve patient care and experience at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
Welcoming the first cohort of clinical fellows, Gill Harris, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said, "We're delighted to announce the launch of this clinical nursing and midwifery fellowship programme in partnership with ×îÐÂÂ鶹ӰÒôÊÓƵ. This is a great opportunity to support the development of our nursing and midwifery workforce, providing them with the skills to find new and innovative ways to improve patient care. As an organisation, we are committed to improving quality of care through research and quality improvement and we are pleased to have recruited nurses and midwives who would like to develop these skills at an early stage of their career.'
Dr Lynne Williams, Head of School of Medical & Health Sciences, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ӰÒôÊÓƵ said, “The new Creating Caring Cultures Fellowships will allow individuals to explore opportunities, evoke change, work with the wider team and uncover their own unique approach to nursing or midwifery. ×îÐÂÂ鶹ӰÒôÊÓƵ is delighted to be supporting the programme and working partnership with BCUHB. The new fellowship reflects ×îÐÂÂ鶹ӰÒôÊÓƵ’s desire to provide transformative learning experiences that are flexible and accessible’.
This bespoke development programme has a focus on improving and innovating within the clinical learning environment. Each Fellow will undertake a quality improvement project which focuses on patient safety, reducing unwarranted variation in the clinical setting and aimed at providing transformative learning experiences.
In addition to the secondment over a 12-month period, the Fellows will undertake a leadership development programme.
